Air Guard unit holds command change

SALT LAKE CITY — Lt. Col. Kevin Tobias took command Saturday of the Utah Air National Guard’s 130th Engineering Installation Squadron.

Tobias, of Layton, succeeds Lt. Col. Karen Morris, of Centerville, who took over in 2009. During her time as commander, the Department of the Air Force inspected the unit for the first time in nine years and gave it an “Excellent” rating, according to a news release from the unit.

The unit held a ceremony for the command rotation Saturday morning at its base building in Salt Lake City.

The unit’s airmen build computer networks with fiber-optic and copper cabling and install antennas. About 30 airmen from the unit are deployed right now in Afghanistan and Qatar.
