SOUTH OGDEN — The South Ogden Department of Public Safety will be sponsoring a Child and Babysitting Safety program for youths, ages 11-15.
This free course covers in-depth information, from deciding if babysitting is right for you, to how to entertain and properly supervise children of all ages.
Other topics include safety, feeding, handling emergencies, basic first aid, CPR and the Heimlich maneuver.
Part of the curriculum includes training on safety practices when caring for children and first aid procedures endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Upon completion, students will receive nationally recognized completion cards and their own babysitting tote bag and handbook. Students must attend both days to receive their certificates.
The class will be from 10 a.m. to noon, July 9-10. Another class will be 10 a.m. to noon, Aug. 1-2.
