BRIGHAM CITY -- A 25-year-old man faces two second-degree felony charges for assaulting a child.
Mark Tsilis was charged with aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury and child abuse in 1st District Court on Wednesday.
On Friday evening, Tsilis was wrestling and playing with 9-year-old Andrew Martinez outside a home at 326 N. Main St., in Brigham City, according to a probable cause statement. Tsilis is a neighbor to and friends with Andrew's older brother, who was also playing outside, the statement adds.
The brother went inside after Tsilis got "too rough with Andrew," and at some point Tsilis put Andrew in a chokehold until he passed out, according to the statement.
Officers arrived, arrested Tsilis and booked him into Box Elder County Jail.
