WEST HAVEN — The busy road construction year continues in the Top of Utah as two projects are under way that figure to have quite an impact on local traffic.
The Utah Department of Transportation has begun work to repave 1900 West in West Haven, from Midland Drive to the Weber River.
UDOT Region One spokesman Vic Saunders said crews will remove the top layer of the road’s surface and replace it with new asphalt pavement.
The work will take place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., seven days a week until mid-August, Saunders said.
Local businesses will be affected while the work is under way, he said.
As part of the project, crews also will be doing work at the intersections of 1900 West and Midland Drive, as well as at 2550 South and Wilson Lane.
When that work occurs, Saunders said, UDOT will close several lanes during daytime hours on weekends.
While at least one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction, Saunders said, motorists on 1900 West should anticipate traffic congestion and consider alternative routes.
Farther south, crews begin yet another project along Interstate 15, rehabilitating the concrete surface of southbound lanes between Interstate 84 in Riverdale and 200 South in Clearfield.
Damaged sections of the road will be removed and replaced with precast pavement sections.
Work hours will be 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily, with the two inside lanes closed throughout the project work zone.
The project starts today and will be finished by early fall.
UDOT is also currently adding an auxiliary lane to the interstate between Clearfield and Roy, and repaving southbound I-15 between Pages Lane in Centerville and 2600 South in Bountiful.
