CENTERVILLE -- A potential ban on hunting in the city has not been approved, but that doesn't mean it is off the table.
The city council considered the proposed ban at its recent meeting. The matter was first discussed in February following the police chief's recommendation to ban hunting throughout the city.
People speaking against the ban have been concerned with the area west of Sheep Road, asking that it not be included in the ban. The chief has since scaled back his proposal to the area between Legacy Parkway and Sheep Road, and between 1275 North and the northern city limit.
The council opted for further study and will prepare a packet for the wildlife board.
