OGDEN -- While the Outlaws had their franchise-record winning streak snuffed out last weekend, Ogden looks to quickly put the setback behind it as it tries to make a run for its first-ever playoff berth.
Sitting in third place in the Premier Development League's Southwest Division, Ogden takes on the Los Angeles Misioneros today at 8:30 p.m. at Carver Middle School in Los Angeles.
The Outlaws have their work cut out for them if they hope to punch a postseason ticket. Initially believing that they needed finish in the division's top three to qualify, Ogden discovered that the divisions planned playoff expansion doesn't kick in until the 2013 season, meaning that this season, only the top two finishers will advance.
Ogden trails Tucson by four points, with the Arizona side having a match in hand, meaning that the Outlaws need to potentially overcome as much as a seven-point deficit against Tucson with just four matches remaining.
Ogden faces Tucson in a season-ending showdown on July 8, but will need the Arizonans to lose or tie at least two matches between now and then, in addition to likely having to gain full value from all of its remaining opponents.
Ogden defeated the Misioneros 2-1 earlier this season in Washington Terrace, and will look to complete a season-series sweep today.
On Saturday, the team will face Fresno Fuego at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, Calif. Kickoff of that match is set for 8 p.m.
