Ogden police arrest man for stalking

OGDEN — Police suspect Clayton Norwood, 49, of stalking women and trying to kidnap one of them.

Norwood was charged with attempted kidnapping, a third-degree felony, and two counts of stalking in 2nd District Court on Friday.

Police suspect Norwood of twice pulling up to a woman at a 27th Street bus stop on Washington Boulevard on June 14 and demanding she get into his vehicle, according to a probable cause statement. He then followed her bus to her place of work, the statement adds.

The same day, police suspect he followed two females to the Weber County Library at 2464 Jefferson Ave.

After the females split up, he followed one of them and demanded — several times — that she get into his vehicle. He got out of the vehicle and reached for her arm saying “Come on baby,” according to the statement.

She ran away.

Police got Norwood’s license plate number from a witness and arrested him Thursday evening.
