Ray and Liz Bertoldi of Layton were honored for their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise party with family and friends on June 23.
They were married on June 9, 1962, at Saint Aquinas Catholic Cathedral in Reno, Nev.
Born and raised in Ogden, he is the son of Ray and Alba Bertoldi. As a youth, he worked on the family farm and enjoyed hunting, fishing and visits to Aunt Inez’s in Colorado. He pursued his career in the jewelry business supported by Liz and spent the last 20 years of his career with Morgan Jewelers as general manager.
She was born in Germany to Jim and Margarete Fallat. As a child, she spent several years on the East Coast, mainly Rockville, Md., before moving to Brigham City, where her father and mother worked for Thiokol.
The couple met and became high school sweethearts at St. Joseph Catholic High School in Ogden, where they graduated. He excelled in sports while she excelled in teaching the locals the latest fashions and moves from the East Coast. They have remained active members of the Catholic community and attend St. Florence Catholic Church in Huntsville.
They are enjoying their retirement, traveling to Hawaii, Las Vegas, fishing trips to the Madison (or any river), visiting her mother in Sandpoint, Idaho, his mother in Ogden, and spending time with friends and family.
They raised four children, all residing in the Ogden/Layton area: Raymond J. and Lisa Bertoldi, Cassandra and Frank Lasusa, Chris and Jennifer Bertoldi, and Danielle Bertoldi. They enjoy spending time with their 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all in the area.
