WEST JORDAN — Authorities plan to release new details in their probe of the death and sexual assault of a 6-year-old West Jordan girl.
Police say a news conference is planned for 3 p.m. Tuesday. They would not say what information would be released.
West Jordan police have said they’re following up on at least 95 tips since Sierra Newbold’s body was found June 26 in a canal near her home.
Family members reported her missing from her bedroom shortly before the body was discovered. An autopsy revealed Newbold was sexually assaulted.
Police say the family has been cooperative in the investigation and that finding who is responsible is the department’s top priority.
