OGDEN -- FIre crews from the U.S. Forest Service are mopping up a brush fire in Taylor Canyon.

Kim Osborn, a fire information officer for the Forest Service, said the flames burned less than an acre.

About 15 firefighters are expected to remain on the scene until about 6 p.m. today, looking for hot spots.

The firefighters mobilzed at the 27th Street Trailhead to hike two miles up the canyon to attack the fire.

The fire was started when lightning struck a tree about 8:30 a.m. A hiker on the popular trail to Malan's Peak called dispatchers to report the lightning strike.

A helicopter was used to dump water on the fire.
