Holladay planners allow man to sell guns from home

HOLLADAY — Holladay’s planning commission has agreed to let a resident sell a limited number of handguns and rifles from his home.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports the city’s seven commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday night to grant Nelson Gardner his conditional-use permit. Gardner still must meet more stringent federal gun-sale guidelines and obtain a city business license.

Gardner has agreed to limit his business to 10 customers per month and limit his inventory to eight weapons at a time. He also has agreed not to post signs or advertise his business online.

More than a dozen residents in the eastside suburb signed a petition opposing Gardner’s plans. They can still appeal the commission’s decision to the City Council or take the matter to court.
