SALT LAKE CITY— Police say a 55-year-old hiker has been found alive and well a day after she went missing in Little Cottonwood Canyon and prompted a major search.
Unified Police Department officials say two hikers spotted Oknom Shim Han on Wednesday sitting in a wooded area near Red Pine Trail. They told police Han didn’t respond to their calls, but they confirmed it was her when they went closer.
Police say Han went hiking with friends and family on Tuesday. They say they last saw her near the Red Pine Bridge, but she never met up with them at the parking lot.
Crews scoured the area Tuesday and Wednesday.
Police say it’s still unclear how Han got separated from the group or why she didn’t respond to the hikers who found her.
