OGDEN -- The 28 youngsters enrolled in Elim Lutheran Church's Vacation Bible School raised $211.23 to contribute to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Malaria Campaign.

Each year, the VBS kids raise money for some cause, a church news release states, and this year, it was the ELCA Malaria Campaign, which provides netting to protect people in Africa from mosquitoes.

When the ELCA learned the VBS kids were raising money to fight malaria, the ELCA agreed to match every cent the kids raised, bringing the total to be donated to $422.46.

To raise money, the youngsters raided their piggy banks, did extra chores, mowed lawns, held yard sales and gave song and dance concerts for their parents and during a worship service.
