Layton Hills Mall set to open new play area

LAYTON — The Layton Hills Mall, in partnership with Weber State University, is opening a customized play area featuring Utah landmarks in the mall’s center court.

The mall will host a grand opening at 11 a.m. today for the play area, which is on the mall’s lower level.

The event will feature WSU mascot Waldo, face painting, a balloon artist and gift bags for the first 200 children attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The play area features such elements as a buffalo and Mount Ogden. The play area also provides an oasis for parents who can watch their children from benches placed around its perimeter.

Connecting with the Davis County community is important to the university, said Bruce Davis, WSU-Davis vice provost and dean.
