OGDEN — The Utah Farm Bureau Federation will have its annual midyear conference Thursday and Friday at Ogden Eccles Conference Center, 2415 Washington Blvd.
The theme for this year’s conference — Building Bridges to a Brighter Future — illustrates the priority of Utah’s farmers and ranchers to bridge the gap between rural and urban understanding of what it takes to grow food, as well as what consumers today are expecting from farmers and ranchers.
President Leland Hogan will speak on the theme of the conference and will introduce the American Farm Bureau’s Centennial Development Project.
Each day of the conference will feature a presentation by one of the two candidates for Utah’s governor’s office.
Incumbent Gov. Gary Herbert will speak Thursday, and Democratic challenger Peter Cooke will speak Friday.
Attendees will learn about local market opportunities for the food they produce from a diverse panel of food users.
In response to the recent Utah fires is a panel discussion titled “Sustainable Grazing in Fires.”
