Edward and Dixielee Nielsen

Edward B. “Ed” and Dixielee Bailey Nielsen of North Ogden celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family on Saturday, July 14.
They were married on July 15, 1952, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Idaho Falls Temple. Both have served and held many callings in their church.
He was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, on July 21, 1933, to Burton Lars Nielsen and Carolyn Ann Godnick. He graduated from Filer High School in 1950, and attended business college in Twin Falls. He worked in funding and control for Thiokol and as a fiduciary accountant for First Security Bank. He became a deputy sheriff and certified in crime prevention in Pendleton, Ore. With life changes, they returned to Ogden in 1977, where they were closer to family.
She was born in Wellsville on Jan. 16, 1936, to James Kerr Bailey and Vivian Leishman Selley. She graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1952. She attended the University of Phoenix, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business science and administration in 1999. She worked at Hill Air Force Base for wheels, brakes, and landing gear as a GS 12, contracting officer, retiring in 2008.
Both enjoy traveling, camping, fishing, hunting, golfing and watching the Utah Jazz.
Their children and spouses are Edward D. and Debbie Nielsen, Ogden; Randy and Janice Nielsen, Rexburg, Idaho; Kathryn and Dennis Thyfault, Hooper; Tony and Carol Nielsen, Rigby, Idaho; and Sherry and Dr. Michael Wardell, Billings, Mont.
They have 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren (one little boy is deceased), and four more on the way.
