SALT LAKE CITY -- A Salt Lake City criminal defense lawyer says he feels lucky to be alive after being stabbed repeatedly by an intruder.
Steven Killpack says in a statement released Tuesday that he is out of the hospital but weak after surgery and expects recovery to take several months.
Authorities have charged 28-year-old Matthew Wall with attempted murder, aggravated burglary and two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
Killpack says upon awakening July 5 he was surprised to find a man in his home that he didn't know. He says the man claimed to have entered with permission. Killpack says after determining that wasn't true, the man attacked him.
Killpack says he escaped and obtained help from neighbors.
