Davis Commission OKs deal with WSU golfers

FARMINGTON — The Weber State University men and women’s golf team will continue to take practice swings at the Valley View Golf Course in Layton.

The Davis County Commission on Tuesday approved a $3,000 contract with the WSU golf teams to allow them to continue to shoot practice rounds on the county-owned and -operated 18-hole golf course.

The agreement stipulates the team will not be able to use the course during weekend play, said Dustin Volk, director of golf at Valley View.

The team members will also be limited when it comes to the course’s driving range, limiting them to two buckets of balls per player per visit, Volk said.

For years the WSU golf teams have been shooting practice rounds at the county-owned course. But the new agreement adds some stipulations, Volk said.
