Leon and Glenna Smith of Brigham City are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary with a family dinner.
They were married on July 23, 1947, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple.
He was born in Logan and raised in Smithfield by his parents George W. and Margret McNeil Smith. He was drafted into the Navy during World War II and served most of his time in Alaska and California. After leaving the Navy, he worked for various furniture and floor covering stores in the Logan area. After spending many years in Logan, an opportunity came along to help manage Brigham Furniture in Brigham City. He accepted the offer and after a few years, managed to purchase the business. After retiring from the furniture business, he worked in the Ogden LDS Temple.
She was born in Logan and raised in Smithfield by her parents Sylvanus and Marguerite Meikle Raymond. She attended schools in the Smithfield area and graduated from North Cache High School. She worked at the Brigham City J.C. Penney store and retired from the Brigham City Senior Center. She is a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Her interests include spending time with her family, reading and crocheting.
Their children and spouses are Raymond and Audrey Smith, Kaysville; Dell and Connie Smith, Nephi; and Wayne Smith (deceased).
They have eight grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
