Max B. and Marilyn Ence Simpson of Hooper celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering in Hooper.
They were married July 20, 1962, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple.He was born and raised in Hooper. He graduated from Weber State College and received a master's degree from Brigham Young University. He was an Institute of Religion instructor in the LDS Church Education System. He was also an early pioneer of A.L. Williams, a financial services company.
She was born in Richfield and raised in Kaysville. She graduated from Davis High School. She worked as a full-time wife, mother and homemaker.
From 1999 to 2002, they presided over the Louisiana Baton Rouge LDS Mission. That was followed by two years as the director of the Oakland LDS Temple Visitors' Center. Last year, they were released after almost three years as first counselor and assistant matron of the Ogden LDS Temple.
The Simpsons have five children: Jeff and Karen Simpson, Salt Lake City; Greg and Angie Simpson, Hooper; Scott and Samantha Simpson, Kaysville; Maren and David Skidmore, Syracuse; and Steve and Kelsi Simpson, Brentwood, Tenn. They have 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
