Roy Edward and Eileen Stimpson Stuart celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner and cruise to Alaska.
They were married on July 19, 1962, in Chateauroux, Indre, France. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Bern Switzerland Temple on July 21, 1962.
Born Sept. 2, 1940, in Bath, Maine, he joined the Air Force in 1958 and served more than 20 years, retiring as a master sergeant at Hill Air Force Base in 1979. He worked for MountainWest Savings and Loan, United Savings Bank, and retired as a regional security manager for Washington Mutual Bank in May 2009.
Born April 30, 1944, in Ogden, she attended Ogden schools and moved to France with her family in 1959, graduating from Chateauroux Air Force Base High School in 1962. She met her husband there and introduced him to the LDS faith, attending his baptism in May 1961.
They enjoyed military assignments in France, Arizona, Crete (he went for one year, and she remained in Ogden with their children), Texas, Norway and Utah. They have lived in their South Ogden home since July 1976.
She served in Primary, Relief Society, Sunday School and seminary home study program. He served in Young Men’s, Sunday School, ward clerk, bishopric member, ward and stake executive secretary, stake president and bishop.
Their children and spouses are Ed and Jeanine Stuart, Rich and Pam Stuart, and Jen and Jake Burnett. They have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild with another expected soon.
