8 rescued from sinking boat on Utah Lake

PROVO — Authorities say eight people were rescued from a sinking boat on Utah Lake by other boaters.

The Daily Herald of Provo reports that some of the passengers didn’t have life jackets.

Utah County sheriff’s Lt. Tom Hodgson says the boat began taking on water about 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Search-and-rescue crews were called to the scene, but other boaters had already rescued the passengers.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the boat sank.
