Man shoots foot during fight in W. Jordan

WEST JORDAN — Police say they’re trying to figure out how a man shot himself in the foot during a fight in West Jordan.

Authorities say at least nine people were involved in the fight early Wednesday. West Jordan Police Sgt. Drew Sanders tells the Deseret News that officers are investigating what happened and that no one has been arrested.

Sanders says the 30-year-old man told officers he was jumped by six men and was struggling to reach for his gun when he shot himself. He says another story officers are hearing is that the man pulled his gun to try to stop a fight in progress and he accidentally shot himself when someone grabbed his arm.

The man was not identified.
