FARMINGTON -- Davis city and nonprofit organization representatives will be making a pitch for Community Development Block Grant funds at today's regularly scheduled Davis County Commission meeting.
The public hearing will begin at 10 a.m. at the Memorial Davis County Courthouse, 28 E. State Street, in Farmington.
The commission anticipates divvying up about $700,000 in federal grant money from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The funds have to be allocated to projects serving those with low to moderate income, officials said.
This year, 23 Davis agencies have collectively requested $1.4 million in CDBG funds, leaving the county roughly $700,000 short of being able to fund requests, said Greg Johnson, Davis County grant coordinator.
Also, at 6 p.m. Thursday, the Davis County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider conditional-use permit amendments to Craythorne/Edgehill Investments Gravel Pit.
The request is to lower the mining level to 4,970 feet.
The meeting will be held in Room 219, 28 E. State St., Farmington
