OGDEN -- Police are investigating shots possibly fired from a military weapon early Monday morning in the 500 block of 4th Street.
Individuals in the neighborhood reported gunfire around 1:45 a.m., said Ogden Police Lt. Chad Ledford.
Several spent .223 caliber shells commonly used by the military, police, and SWAT teams, as well as civilians for hunting or target practice, were found in the street, said Ledford.
There was no damage to homes and no one was injured, leading police to believe the weapon was fired into the air.
"That's equally dangerous because the bullets have to land somewhere," said Ledford.
"Shooting in the city with anything like that is asinine," he said.
Police are looking for a newer-model silver, two-door Honda Civic or Accord that was spotted in the neighborhood around the time of the shooting.
