Area families invited to donate backpacks

Catholic Community Services is inviting area families to donate to this year’s Backpack Bonanza school supplies collection for needy families, which is going on now until Aug. 15.

“While most Utah families are stocking up on school supplies to head back to school, many in our community are struggling to prepare for the upcoming school year,” states a news release from the agency.

“Please join us in helping kids who are in need by donating new backpacks and supplies.”

Backpacks and supplies may be dropped off at any participating Bank of Utah location in Weber, Box Elder County, Davis and Salt Lake counties.

Also participating are Kid to Kid stores in Ogden, Layton, Bountiful, Salt Lake, West Valley, Holladay, Sandy, South Jordan, American Fork and Lindon.

United Way of Northern Utah, 2955 Harrison Blvd. in Ogden, is collecting at the north door.

Catholic Community Services is collecting at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall, 437 W. 200 South in Salt Lake, and at the Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank, 2504 F Ave. in Ogden.

For information, visit ccsutah.org, or call 801-428-1295 in Ogden or 801-977-9119 in Salt Lake.
