POWELL, Wyo. — A Utah man suspected of robbing banks in his home state as well as Wyoming, Oklahoma and Montana has pleaded not guilty to federal charges in Wyoming.
Joshua Michael Beckstead entered his plea last week on charges that he robbed banks in Cody and Cheyenne in June. The 32-year-old is also charged with an attempted robbery in Cody.
The Powell Tribune reported Tuesday that he will go on trial in Casper on Oct. 1. He faces up to 60 years in prison.
Beckstead hasn’t been charged with bank robberies in any of the other states but he’s wanted in Utah for allegedly passing bad checks.
He was released from the Weber County Jail in Ogden, Utah on May 8 to go to a dentist’s appointment but never returned. He was arrested July 4 in North Dakota.
