2-year-old girl found dead in southern Utah creek

LA VERIN --  A 2-year-old girl who went missing in southern Utah has been found dead in LaVerkin Creek.

Washington County sheriff’s deputies say the child was reported missing about 8 p.m. Wednesday and found after more than two hours of searching. Authorities say there are no signs of suspicious activity and the girl’s death is being treated as an accident.

The sheriff’s office has not yet released the child’s identity.

The search included members of the sheriff’s office, the state Division of Natural Resources, fire agencies and volunteers.
