New charter school plans open houses

SOUTH WEBER — HighMark Charter School, a new Davis County charter school, will host public open houses today, Thursday and Aug. 14.

The events, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on each date, will include tours and information on HMCS, which is at 2467 E. South Weber Drive.

The tuition-free school expects to serve 580 students, from kindergarten through ninth grade, when it opens Aug. 27.

The school’s stated goal is “to equip students with the highest quality education while fostering an entrepreneurial spirit by integrating practical business applications throughout the core curriculum.”

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 23.
