Richard and Shirley Dickinson

Richard and Shirley Dickinson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 3 with a ceremony renewing their vows, followed by a reception at Harbor Christian Church in Ogden.

They were married on Aug. 3, 1962, at the Wasatch Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City. They have made their home in Roy for the entire 50 years of their marriage.

She was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from North High School and attended Drake University, both in Des Moines. She retired from Defense Depot Ogden.

He was born and raised in Ogden, graduated from Ben Lomond High School, and attended Weber State University and Casper Junior College in Casper, Wyo. He then joined the U.S. Air Force, serving 33 years between active duty and the reserves. He was in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm and retired from Hill Air Force Base.

Their children are Dennis and Dr. Jo Myers Dickinson, Ypsilanti, Mich.; Darrell and Catherine Dickinson, Clinton; Pastor David Dickinson, Fremont, Mich.; and Janine and David Miller, Clearfield. They have seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
