Vickie and Carl Child

Carl and Vickie Child of Hooper celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at a dinner hosted by their children.

They were married in Malad, Idaho, on Aug. 2, 1962.

Their children and spouses are Patrick and Amy Child, Cindy Cales, Lisa and Clark Garver, Shayne and TaRena Child, Mike and Monica Child, and Kent and Liz Child. They have 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was born Aug. 24, 1943, to Leo and Edris Child. Raised in Clinton, he worked on the family farm alongside his parents, brothers and sisters. There he learned a work ethic that he carried through life and passed on to his children. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He graduated from Davis High School, where he formed friendships that have lasted throughout his life. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired from the Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3.

His favorite pastime is hunting and fishing with his “boys” and camping and four wheeling in the Uinta Mountains with his children and grandchildren. He enjoys gardening and backyard bonfires with the family.

She was born Nov. 20, 1945, to Thomas B. and Elizabeth Magee. Raised in Harrisville, she was baptized into the LDS Church at age 13. Her family moved to Clearfield when she was age 15, and she attended Clearfield High School. She has served in various positions within her church.

She was a lead tax examiner with the Internal Revenue Service and retired after 23 years. She is an ardent reader and enjoys gardening, traveling and time spent with family.
