Idea for regional pool in Syracuse doesn’t float

SYRACUSE — A regional swimming pool for this community and some of its neighbors does not appear to be in the offering, Mayor Jamie Nagle said.

Nagle said city officials had raised the idea of a co-op swimming pool, near Syracuse High School, with some neighboring cities, but found no interest. She made the comments during a recent city work session.

Clearfield and Layton are the city’s only neighbors with municipal swimming pools.

The mayor did say she was encouraged that a local business had expressed a desire to build a pool, which would be built without using taxpayer dollars.
