OGDEN -- Police have released dash cam video of a July 24 incident involving the pursuit of a stolen truck allegedly driven by a man who was fired upon by officers.
The Standard-Examiner obtained the video through a public records request.
Kenneth Mobley, 46, is suspected of stealing a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck July 21 from his parents, with whom he lives, in Clinton, police say.
Ogden officers tried pulling Mobley over on 12th Street, but Mobley slammed on his brakes, causing a collision with the patrol car, according to a probable cause statement.
After the collision, Mobley abandoned the truck and hid in a field near the train tracks on West 17th Street. He was soon confronted by police, according to the probable cause statement.
Mobley emerged from a hiding spot and pointed a soda can at an Ogden officer, hoping the policeman would shoot at him because he wanted to die, the probable cause statement says. The officer fired but missed.
Mobley was booked into Weber County Jail on suspicion of theft, felony criminal mischief, evading, interfering with an arrest, two counts of aggravated assault and three counts of assault on a police officer.
