OGDEN — MountainStar Blood Services has launched a new website.
Aimed at engaging younger donors, www.MountainStarBlood.com provides simple how-to instructions for those unfamiliar with the donation process and a comprehensive list of common questions and answers.
Officials estimate less than a quarter of MountainStar donors are between 16 and 25 years of age, yet they are proven to be the safest donors.
“Demographics for blood donors are trending older. That’s why we designed this site to appeal to and connect with prospective donors who are inexperienced in giving blood,” said MountainStar Blood executive director, Marilyn Peralta. “There is a lot of misinformation out there, and young people shy away from letting someone stick a 16-gauge needle in their arms to draw blood if they are unfamiliar with the process and the life-saving benefits of donating.”
