CLEARFIELD -- Two sisters, now ages 12 and 13, told police a Clearfield man sexually abused them seven years ago.
The investigation took almost nine months to complete because the girls now live in Las Vegas, said Assistant Clearfield Police Chief Mike Stenquist.
"The victims reported the abuse to their father in November (of 2011)," Stenquist said.
Clearfield police enlisted the help of Las Vegas police to interview the girls.
On Friday, Clearfield police arrested Brent E. Weyland, 61, and booked him in Davis County Jail.
He was released on $50,000 bail.
He is charged in 2nd District Court with two counts of first-degree felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child, one count of second-degree felony sex abuse of a child and one count of lewdness involving a child, a class A misdemeanor.
No court date has been set.
Stenquist said Weyland was a neighbor of the girls' family.
According to court documents, from Jan. 1, 2004, to Dec. 31, 2005, Weyland, who was baby-sitting the girls, inappropriately touched them and had the girls touch him inappropriately.
