Crystal Bowl award winners named

OGDEN — The Board of Commissioners of Weber County recognized a number of county employees with the Crystal Bowl Awards for their efforts to better the community.

The commissioners presented the awards to Larry Slater, from the Treasurer’s Office, and the Weber County Roads Department last week in the Commission Chambers of the Weber Center, 2380 Washington Blvd., Ogden.

Each year, the commission chooses an organization and an individual that have made significant contributions to the county.

Slater received an award for his volunteer work, specifically with the Children’s Justice Center.

The roads department received the award for its work dealing with the effects of last year’s flooding.

The bowl is made out of quartz and can be rung like a bell, emanating a gentle hum. The commissioners chose the materials and the design to symbolize how the recipients’ work resonates throughout the community.
