Utah political activist has hearing in rape case

SALT LAKE CITY — A conservative Utah political activist is in court for a preliminary hearing on charges of rape, assault and kidnapping.

Gregory Nathan Peterson was arrested July 18 after several women came forward and told authorities he assaulted them at his cabin outside of Heber, where Peterson has held annual gatherings for Republican officeholders and candidates.

He has been held at the Salt Lake County jail and maintains all the accusations are false.

The 37-year-old Orem man faces 23 felonies, including counts of assault, rape and kidnapping.
