OGDEN -- The women of the Golden Hours Senior Center worked feverishly during the holiday season, knitting hundreds of caps and scarves for local charities such as the Salvation Army, The Christmas Box House, local hospitals, and other organizations in need. They also made afghan lap blankets for the veterans at the Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden.
This year, under the tutelage of Louise Kelley and Sally Tibb, they plan to crochet small papoose cocoons for newborn preemies. However, they are in need of donations of yarn.
Any color will be accepted; however, the traditional pink and blue is preferable. All items made from the donated yarn will be sent to local hospitals.
The Golden Hours Senior Center Craft Group meets every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m., at the center, which is located at 650 25th Street. If you would like to donate, please drop your donations off at the center during normal working hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information about the center, the activities or classes offered, call 801-629-8864.
