LAYTON — A mutual aid agreement between the city and Hill Air Force Base for fire protection and hazardous materials incident response has been renewed for three years.

The council recently voted unanimously to renew the agreement. Fire Chief Kevin Ward said the only new provision in the accord is the ability for HAFB’s response team to set up a fire safety officer, if one hasn’t already been established at the scene of an incident.

The accord is separate from an existing agreement between the fire department and HAFB for ambulance service on base Ward said.
