Crime center receives GIS award

OGDEN — The Ogden Police Department recently received an award for its Real Time Crime Center.

Esri, a leader in Geographic Information System software and geodatabase applications development, presented the Special Achievements in GIS Award to OPD at its recent international users conference.

The Real Time Crime Center was one of about 150 of more than 100,000 Esri clients worldwide to receive the award.

Assistant Police Chief Wayne Tarwater and Real Time Crime Center Director David Weloth accepted the award at the conference.

To develop the Real Time Crime Center in 2011, the Ogden Police Department used GIS technology to bring statistics and information from disparate locations together into one operational mapping environment.
