Berniece Ryser Stewart of Ogden celebrated her 95th birthday dining out with her family on Aug. 18.
The first child of James J. and Hilda Schanz Ryser, she was born on Aug. 18, 1917, in Salt Lake City. She graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah.
She married William M. Stewart in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. They moved to California where they had four children: Bill Stewart, North Ogden; Susan Stewart, Palos Verdes, Calif.; James Stewart, West Jordan; and Sandra Brueck, Saratoga Springs.
She also has seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She and her husband moved back to Utah in 1959, and she worked at Defense Depot Ogden for 27 years.
She has been a member of the American Business Women Association and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She has served in many LDS church callings and has enjoyed helping others.
