BOUNTIFUL -- A ladder that apparently fell off someone's vehicle was the cause of backed-up traffic and an injury accident on Interstate 15 in Bountiful on Monday.
The 1 p.m. incident backed up traffic for about 40 minutes, Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said.
The officer said police were not aware of the source of the ladder.
He said traffic came to a standstill in the No.2 lane and possibly others before the ladder was removed.
In the meantime, he said, a car rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped on the freeway.
The driver of the rear-ended vehicle had to be transported to an area hospital. No other vehicles were involved in accident as a result of the ladder.
Johnson warned those who use area freeways to always secure their loads.
