Bountiful approves two new police vehicles

BOUNTIFUL -- The city council has approved the purchase of two new police vehicles.

The cost for the purchase of a new Dodge Charger and a Toyota Camry hybrid will be $52,730 and comes within the scope of the $56,000 set aside in the 2012-2013 fiscal year budget for the purchase.

The purchase of a hybrid is the first for the department since 2008, according to Chief Tom Ross who said the department will continue to evaluate fuel savings and vehicle performance costs with the hopes the vehicle will provide a fuel saving option for the BPD.
