FARMINGTON — Seven former Utah Open champions and one Masters champion will highlight a strong field for the 2012 Siegfried and Jensen Utah Open, set to tee off this morning at Oakridge Country Club.
Defending champion Clay Ogden, a Davis County resident, won in 2007 and 2011 and is looking to be the first three-time winner in 60 years.
Other former Utah Open champs include Jimmy Blair, Nick Mason, Nathan Lashley, Pete Stone, Boyd Summerhays and Mike Malaska.
Action begins at 7:30 a.m., and runs through Sunday in the $125,000, 54-hole event.
There is no charge for admission.
Utah Golf Hall of Famer Mike Weir will tee off at 8:50 a.m. Weir, a former BYU standout and Utah resident who won the Masters in 2003, has battled elbow injuries the past few years.
Ogden, Jimmy Blair and Brett Wayment, one of nine Utah State Amateur champions in the field, tees off at 1:50 p.m.
14-year-old Rhett Rasmussen is the youngest in the field; fathers and sons include Jimmy and Zac Blair, Brad and Pete Stone, and Bobby and Mason Casper.
Brothers include Ron and Don Branca, Clay and Cole Ogden, Tony and Gipper Finau, and Steve and Gary Schneiter, as well as cousins Joe and Boyd Summerhays.
