SALT LAKE CITY -- Brock Anderson's 7-of-13 passing performance coupled with Mason Woodward's 105 yards on 16 carries led a well-balanced offensive attack that propelled Syracuse to a 30-0 road win over 4-A Skyline Friday night.
"Our kids have just been focused and really good about coming to practice and taking things one day at a time," coach Russ Jones said. "And our assistant coaches have just done a tremendous job of preparing these guys."
Anderson threw for 135 yards, rushed for 26 more on six carries and kicked a 41-yard field goal in the fourth quarter that capped scoring on the night for the Titans. Anderson's long was a 53-yard bomb early in the third quarter that hit 6-foot-3 senior wide receiver Kiwa Moo in stride.
Jones not only credited his playmakers, but pointed out that a virtually untested offensive line that helped Syracuse to a win over Desert Hills last week, came out and took care of business again this week giving Woodward the lanes to run and Anderson all day to throw.
"They're working hard and really starting to click," he said.
As potent as the Titan offense was, the Syracuse defense earned every bit of the shut out holding Skyline QB Tyler Snyder to just 41 yards through the air while sacking him four times.
Snyder picked up 74 yards scrambling and 6-foot-4 senior WR/RB Garrett England nabbed 39 yards on 10 carries.
Syracuse (2-0) will get their first 5-A test next Friday as they host Riverton.
