Library plans "Hunger Games" event

OGDEN — The Weber County Library will host a series of activities in September centered around showings of the film “The Hunger Games.”

The first showing will be at 3 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Weber County North Branch Library, 475 E. 2600 North, North Ogden. Admission is free.

Pre-show activities begin at 2:30 p.m., with prizes being awarded for best costume, said Deborah Smith, Weber County Library spokeswoman. Additional events with pre-show activities scheduled a half-hour prior to each film showing will be held at the various libraries throughout the county.

On Sept. 5, a food drive for nonperishable food items to benefit local charities will be part of the pre-show activities at the Pleasant Valley Branch, 5568 S. Adams Ave., South Ogden.

Activities begin at 6 p.m., with the film to be shown at 7 p.m. Food donations may be dropped off at the library from now through Sept. 5, with each donor entered into a raffle drawing.
