Elaine Christiansen of North Ogden celebrated her 85th birthday with a family reunion and dinner on Aug. 11 and Aug. 12.
She was born on Aug. 11, 1927, in Springville to Maud and Ivan Beardall.
She married Dean J. Christiansen on Sept. 17, 1947, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Manti Temple.
She enjoys spending time with family, traveling, temple work, quilting, church work, the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and vegetable and flower gardening, especially her beautiful roses. Her family says that she has a “green thumb” because she is the only person they know who cut a branch of a pomegranate bush in Southern Utah, brought it home, made it grow 12-feet tall, and bear fruit.
Her children and their spouses are Glenn “Jack” Christiansen, Boyd and Naomi Christiansen, Ilene and Dennis Carlson, Brent Christiansen, Ruth and Bill Baker, and Kent and Jennifer Christiansen.
She has 21 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
