Ralph S. Carter of Morgan will celebrate his 95th birthday at a family dinner.

He was born in Porterville, Morgan County, on Aug. 27, 1917, to Levi Alfred and Clara P. Carter. He graduated from Morgan County schools. He married Fern Porter on Dec. 13, 1939, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. They had more than 72 years together. She died June 30, 2012.

After they were married, he held several jobs and eventually purchased his father’s farm, becoming a dairy farmer. On this farm, they raised their nine children.

He returned to school and received a bachelor’s degree in education and math from Weber State College. He sold the milk cows and began teaching at Morgan High School in 1966. He retired after teaching math and physics for 13 years.

He and his wife served an LDS mission in 1989 to Harrisburg, Pa. He has been active in the LDS Church and served in many callings, including bishop and on the high council.

His children and their spouses are Paul and Vanna Carter, Vaughn and Carolee Carter, Shirley and Carl Dearden, Frank and Carla Carter, Julie and Paul Johnson, Elaine and Bob Barton, RaNae and Randy Stevenson, Lee and Jeannie Carter, and Lisa and Michael Kelly.

He has 44 grandchildren, 99 great-grandchildren (with four more on the way), and seven great-great-grandchildren (with one more on the way).
