WEST VALLEY CITY -- The Utah Grizzlies announced their preseason schedule on Thursday, but the excitment at the Maverik Center was over-the-top hockey heaven as Utah native Trevor Lewis showed off the the Stanley Cup to fellow Utah hockey fans.
Lewis and the the Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup earlier in the year. As is customary, each player gets 24 hours to take control of the Cup's fortunes. The former Brighton High forward welcomed more than 6,500 who came to the Maverik Center Thursday to celebrate.
The line stretched well around the building to have the opportunity to meet Lewis and see the prestigious trophy as the event went from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Utah native invited all to West Valley City as part of his 24 hours with the Cup for winning the Stanley Cup Championship in June.
Lewis said the Cup would make a stop at the Utah-Northern Colorado football game later as well.
