ROY --A man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon that closed the Riverdale Road overpass at 1750 West.
The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Jacob Foster, of Roy, who was driving a white Mustang convertible, said Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham.
Foster died at Ogden Regional Hospital. The accident occurred about 2:55 p.m.
Whinham said Foster tried to turn left across two lanes of traffic on to Riverdale Road from 1750 West and was struck broadside by a large Dodge pickup truck traveling west on Riverdale.
The driver's side of the Mustang was crushed, Whinham said, and the Dodge sustained extensive damage to the front end.
The name of the male driver of the Dodge, who is also from Roy, was not released.
Whinham said he does not expect any citations will be issued.
The intersection remained closed for several hours while police and the Utah Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
The closure of the intersection caused a major traffic headache for officers and commuters.
Drivers, trying to go around the accident, were turning into the Harmon's grocery parking lot adjacent to 1900 West, only to discover that there was no way across I-15 that way.
